 Van Scoy would like to take a moment—or two—to pause and celebrate our Independence Day, July 4th. 

Independence Day represents the core American values of freedom, democracy, and self-determination. It’s a time to reflect on what unites us as Americans—regardless of background, beliefs, or politics.

While we’re out picnicking, barbecuing, and playing cornhole with family and friends, take a moment to appreciate just how valuable your time is. That time was made possible by those who fought—and in many cases, gave their lives—for our independence. This is a day when we should all feel united, despite our differences.

Many have sacrificed so that you and I can enjoy the freedom to celebrate, to gather with loved ones, or simply to live life on our own terms. To us, this is one of the most meaningful holidays of the year. We love our freedom, our independence, and our country.

No matter our political views, we are all Americans—bound together by a shared hope for peace, unity, and mutual respect. Let’s also take a moment to honor the families who have sacrificed alongside our heroes. Whether it’s a son, daughter, mother, father, grandparent, or sibling, many have given deeply so that others may live free.

It’s not just a celebration—it’s a remembrance. A time to honor those who fought for our freedom, and those who continue to defend it.

So, look up at the sky. Breathe the fresh air. Smell the barbecue. Look around at your family and friends—and realize how fortunate we are to live in a country that, through sacrifice and resilience, still stands strong and free.
