Caroline was recently featured in a Reading Eagle article that focused on local female business leaders:
“Caroline Hill of South Heidelberg Township may have only owned Van Scoy Jewelers, Broadcasting Square, Spring Township, since 2015, but she has managed the store since the 1980s. She has seen the many years of dependability and commitment to the community come back to Van Scoy in the way of repeat customers and frequent referrals. Hill graduated from Pottsville High School and has a business degree from Penn State University. A part-time job at a jewelry store during her college days stirred her interest in jewelry. ”That’s kind of when I fell in love with it,” she said. Hill is completing a gemology degree through the Gemological Institute of America that will allow her to identify, grade and appraise jewels to ensure the continued quality of merchandise sold at her store. Some of Hill’s staff has been on the job at Van Scoy for 40 years, and Hill describes her employees as well-educated and committed to the business. ”You want someone who knows what they’re doing,” she said. An avid runner with the Pagoda Pacers, Hill brings her team spirit to her business success. She said: “Build a network of people with similar goals and like-mindedness so you can learn from them. Don’t be afraid to ask if you need help.”
