My Best Life in Jewelry
AID THROUGH TRADE: A FASHION DESIGN COMPANY WITH ETHICS
Published: Oct 17, 2022

#AIDTHROUGHTRADE
A few months ago, while working with one of my manufacturer’s reps, I was introduced to a line of colorful bracelets. At first, I was attracted to the colors because they were so bright and cheerful. But after learning the story behind them, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to participate with this company.
While serving in the Peace Corps in the 1980s, Damien Jones became intrigued by the use of glass beads in the Nepalese culture. As he traveled through Nepal, he saw variations in their designs, but one thing remained constant and that was how the women’s lives improved dramatically because of the income this was creating. It wasn’t until 1993 that his vision came to fruition with the creation of Aid Through Trade, a fashion design company with ethics. They introduced the “Original Roll-On Bracelet”
Each bracelet is a handmade glass bead bracelet created by a woman in Nepal. The vision of Damien Jones, to empower the lives of women through ethical fair, and sustainable employment, became reality. As many women throughout the world are enjoying these lovely bracelets, women in Nepal are being empowered as they work for a socially responsible company.
Women are strong and capable of achieving great things. I believe in supporting and empowering women so they can reach their full potential. When women are empowered, everyone benefits, and when given the opportunity to succeed, they make the world a better place for all of us. I am committed to supporting and empowering women.
