Deb’s Experience
I met Amy and Chris shortly after we were able to open for business in June 2020. We just seemed to really hit it off and click! I remember them distinctly telling me they were not ready to make a decision that day, but when the time was right, Van Scoy would be their jeweler. Several months later, Chris reached out to me that the time was right. It was just an easy-going fun experience for both of us. Chris and Amy are a wonderful couple full of positive energy. I'm so happy our paths crossed, and I played a small role in their love story. Here is their story:
Amy's Experience
Our story begins with Chris’s mom playing matchmaker. I worked with her for years, she always thought Chris and I would make the perfect couple. She made sure we had each other’s numbers, and we began talking. Our first date was June 2019. We enjoyed a drink at Chatty Monks and ice cream at Sweet Ride. Chris knew he wanted to go on a second date because I actually laughed at his jokes and stories. There were many more dates with jokes, stories, and laughs and we eventually moved in together just as the world shut down because of Covid 19. Talk of marriage and finding the perfect ring began.
Chris and I chose my ring together, I wouldn’t have had it any other way. We made visits to a few jewelry stores but when we walked into Van Scoy Jewelers, we knew our search was over. Deb made it so much fun for us! Once we decided on a setting, it was time to choose a diamond. We were having trouble choosing the perfect rock, but Deb showed us the details under the microscope. We both loved one that had a little feather in it that you can only see with the microscope. It made our diamond special and unique just for us!
Because we picked my engagement ring together, I knew the proposal was coming. Chris was determined to surprise me with the “when” part. I will never forget receiving a text from Deb; “Your ring is here, but the jeweler is off for vacation”. My ring wouldn’t be ready for another week! I was so excited about the beautiful ring that we chose together. The thought of waiting an additional week was rough, but I was ready to power through! Turns out Deb was in on the surprise, and Chris picked up the ring the day she texted me about the “wait”.
We booked our venue before we got engaged; Chris pulled in another secret agent for the big surprise. The coordinator at the hotel emailed us asking if we would come that weekend to see the ballroom we reserved. We agreed, and I was beginning to get excited to start wedding planning!
On May 30, 2021, we met at the hotel and began looking around. The coordinator took us up to the rooftop restaurant for some lunch. When we walked outside, I saw my parents, Chris’ parents, and Chris’ sister and her family standing there, all their phones pointing at us. I wasn’t sure what to make of this. Were they documenting our first meeting to kick off our wedding planning? When I turned around, Chris was down on one knee Van Scoy box in hand with my sparkling ring! The Lancaster skyline was our backdrop, sharing this moment with our families, saying yes to my one and only; It all had the most perfect “ring” to it!
